The zumo is made for extreme durability; it's vibration-tested, waterproof, and built with fuel-resistant plastics to withstand the elements. This is a great product. It works great, is easy to use. There was some difficulty in downloading the maps but part of that is our internet connections. We would like to find a head set that works well with the motorcycle. We are not in a helmet law state and often do not use the helmet so would like something that would work with or without a helmet. any ideas?

A great GPS. We needed one that we could use on the bike and in the car. The only complaint is that the user manual is on a disk, not paper. It would be much more convenient to look up something while you are on the road. Now we have to remember what feature we couldn't figure out; then when we get home put the disk in the computer to find it. Very inconvenient!

Having been a long time user of Garmin's 2610, I was leery of another offering from Garmin, mainly because of the shortcomings with the software. Not to worry. The Zumo has cured the many problems inherent in the older models. Also it is so much easier to use while on the motorcycle, even while wearing gloves.

Even though the CD is rudimentary, and there is no paper manual, the software is intuitive and easy to use. The only problem I could see is if a new purchaser is unfamiliar with use of the Mapsource product to plan a route on the PC and download to the GPS, which is the way I plan all group rides that I lead. I could find no user guide to Mapsource. Fortunately I already knew how to map a route on the PC. Unfortunately the current Mapsource maps are not any easier to use in planning a ride on the PC than the prior offerings.

Many of the back roads I use are not visible on Mapsource until the scale is down to .3 of a mile. Then it is a slow process to map the route the entire trip. I note that other map providers, such as Google Maps, don't have this problem. Maybe Garmin will eventually solve this shortcoming, and I will have no complaints about the product.

All things considered, I give the Zumo high marks, and am glad I made the jump from the 2610.

If you ride a bike you need one of these. The only complaint I have is with the bluetooth. It has two channels of bluthooth but has a very limited amount of phones that it will work with. Most of them are very old model. If you hook up a phone not on the list it will pair up but if you also pair up a headset then it goes crazy. Once I found an old phone (Motorla RAZR) it works great.

"Garmin nuvi 780 GPS" 2009-12-18

I used this on a very long trip: Arkansas to Florida to New Mexico, then back to Arkansas. There was only one part of the route (went mostly on back roads, not freeways) where the database was a little off due to new or rerouted highways. Modifying routes can be a little clunky, especially if you do it by selecting points off the map (you have to zoom quite a bit). For you glass cockpit pilots out there, like me you'll probably wish it had a "legs" page method for adding/deleting waypoints that is a little more intuitive, but it's not too bad.

Garmy, as we named the voice, gets a bit petulant when you do an "unauthorized" course deviation. After a bit, I turned her off. The course recaculations when you do deviate were for the most part excellent. I chose not to implement the MSN service, so can't comment on that. I did purchase the beanbag dash base; although a bit overpriced, I'm very happy with it and it's much easier to use that the windshield mount.

I would like to have the option to change the displays a bit to always show direction and perhaps some other things (when you are on a route that you have programmed, it doesn't show the direction, just the map, estimated arrival time, and speed).

I bought this iterm just for the occasional travel. So I have not so often used it. I tried several times. It seemed working properly. The only thing I do not like it is that the remiding worked not so well within 1 mile of the turning. It won't tell me which lane I should keep and keep remiding me continusly.
Another thing is that it did not work well in the city like boston. I guess the buildings may be too high. Even when I was on the street, there is totally no signal. I do not know whether there is any satellite-signal-enhance device which can give my GPS any help. One time I used my friend's GPS-receiver plusing PDA, it can work easily in the Detroit and chicago where the buildings are even much higher.

"Maps Incomplete in Houston for the last year" 2009-12-16

If you are in or planning on travelling through the Houston beware as many, many, many maps are incomplete. Streets are missing (they are not new streets). I can be looking at a street and this Garmin can't find it. I have to use the navigation on my iPhone.
Interstate 10 travelling west is missing (and has been for the last year) interstate 45 is incomplete. If you try to use the navigation feature it will make you get off of the 45 south drive about 1 mile east then 5 miles south then get back on the 45.

If you contact customer service they will be happy to tell you an update is comming but it never arrives.

This is my first GPS and I love it. I purchased a TomTom for a friend and I tried it out but I am in love with the Garmin because of the ease of use, the way it recalculates faster than the TomTom and it gives you the shortest routes. Also, I love the blue tooth feature and the MSN direct feature. The MP3 player is okay; I wish this model had 2 speakers instead of one but I can live with it. I recommend Garmin gps units to everyone.

"I use it on my Motorcycle..." 2009-12-15

I bought this to use on my motorcycle, since I tend to follow back roads and secondary highways rather than the interstates. Overall, I'm happy.

Because I avoid interstates and other areas people in cars usually drive to get places faster, I needed to be able to plot routes that stayed on curvy back roads. For one thing, they're more fun and for another, motorcycles get worse gas mileage on the interstates than back roads from all the wind.

It took me a lot of fiddling to get the avoidances and other settings just right for the unit to plot the type of route that I wanted. While you can set several waypoints along the route, for one road I wanted to travel on, the GPS was determined to take me off it. I finally realized that "highways" doesn't necessarily mean interstates in GPS lingo. I do wish it made the distinction between "interstates" and rural highway routes, though. A motorcycle-specific unit would do that, but those cost 2-3 times as much. Using the "shortest route" setting and using avoidances for U-Turns, Traffic, Ferries Carpool Lanes and Unpaved Roads, I was able to use two waypoints to point the GPS to the route I wanted. After that, things got much smoother.

The GPS faithfully steered me on routes with no trouble. I deliberately went far off one route and the GPS quickly plotted a new one within seconds.

The MP3 player is great, since I wear earphones anyway to shield my ears from the wind noise. The music is nice to keep my energy level up on long trips. When the GPS gives an instruction, the music mutes momentarily. The unit offers an FM transmitter to send the music through your car speakers. Transferring the music from my computer to the SD card I installed in the GPS was about as quick as any file copying process.

The GPS paired with my cheap little LG pre-paid phone via bluetooth. I was able to make a call (at home - I have no desire to try to talk on the phone while on the bike) with no trouble.

Battery life is decent, so those riders without power sockets will be able to ride for a few hours on the internal battery.

I haven't tried the traffic data service yet.

A few bad points:

- The unit froze up during power up a couple of times. Once, turning off and on again fixed it. The other time, I had to reset it by holding the power switch toward the left for the required 8 seconds to reset things. I didn't lose any data or settings when the unit came back on, though, so no harm done. It was just a bit annoying.

- There seems to be a bug in the software where, if a direction is given exactly as one song ends and another begins, you only hear and audio glitch instead of the instruction. Odd, but unlikely to happen often.

- Since I use the headphone jack on the bike (so I can hear the thing) and use the internal speaker in my car, it would be nice to have separate controls for those outputs since the headphone jack is way louder. The unit does provide a master level, along with separate levels for voice prompts and music.

- The unit won't turn off when connected via USB - even when connected to a USB to AC adapter. It always thinks it's connected to a computer and stays on to act as a drive.

- You can't build a true custom route on the unit like you can in a mapping program. Waypoints help a lot and the ability to save created routes is nice, but I'd like a bit more control.

- The unit doesn't tell your speed when navigating a route. It only displays it when just showing the map of where you currently are. When navigating, the speed indicator switches to show how long until you reach your destination. My old Garmin showed both, which is helpful on a motorcycle, since the speedometers aren't 100% accurate at certain speeds. It's not a big deal in cars, though.

- It would be a nice touch to have a "Back to Map" button in the various settings menus. As they are, you have to back out several steps to get back there.

Overall, a nice unit priced well below other similar ones. Higher priced units do offer more features, but the value is not there for most uses. I'm happy with this one.

Improved Interface

One of Garmin's key product philosophies is to make extremely complex technology easy to use for anyone right out of the box, and perhaps nowhere is that better exemplified than in the user interface for Garmin's portable navigation devices.

Garmin's interface is a key to their success part of what makes their devices such a pleasure to use. Simple controls and sub-screens make it easy to enter or search for destinations and get data about your trip. Simply touch the color screen to enter a destination, and nüvi takes you there with turn-by-turn voice directions, 2-D or 3-D maps and smooth map updates as you navigate.

HotFix™ – aka: Satellite Ephemeris Data Prediction

Your GPS device locks onto transmissions from a dedicated network of Satellites in order to determine its position. Until the device gets a "lock" on three satellites, it can't effectively navigate, so decreasing the time it takes for your device to get "satellite lock" is always a goal of GPS manufacturers. With Garmin's new HotFix technology, your Garmin GPS remembers the position of all satellites it is tracking when you turn it off, and calculates their movements in order to predict where they should be the next time you turn it on. This gives the device an idea of where it should look for satellites, and dramatically decreases the time it takes for your Garmin to get its position and start navigating. HotFix can predict satellite positions for up to 3 days after the device was last turned off.

Using Garmin’s unique Web site — Garmin Connect Photos — users can choose from millions of geo-located photos provided by Google’s Panoramio photo sharing community and download them to the nüvi for a richer navigation experience using pictures as a guide.

Now, it's easy to search for locations on Google Maps or Mapquest, then transfer the addresses directly to your Garmin GPS navigator. Hook up your Garmin to the computer via it's USB port Search for the location you want Click the Send link in the info window for the address. That will bring up a popup "Send to" form. Pick GPS, then pick Garmin and hit the "Send" button. The address will instantly transfer to your Garmin device, The point will be saved as one of your favorites, and you can navigate to it or view it on a map just like with any other favorite. The process does require a small plugin, which you can get at Garmin's website at http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3739. You can send business addresses to your Garmin device from these countries: Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States.

Traffic-Capable for Either FM Traffic or Enhanced MSN Direct Content

FM Traffic

With an optional receiver, you can get alerts from TMC Clear Channel about traffic tie-ups and road construction that might lie ahead on your route. All you have to do is simply touch the screen to view traffic details and you'll be ready to detour around any problem area. And if you end up missing a turn, or you're forced into a detour that is not relayed through the traffic receiver, the nüvi's sophisticated automatic routing will get you back on track in no time.
In most areas, TMC Clear Channel traffic broadcasts are continuous — there's no waiting for scheduled traffic news updates or random alerts. Because traffic broadcasts are received via a "silent" FM data channel, you can still listen to music or news programming on your car radio without interference from incoming FM traffic data transmissions.

The widescreen format gives you 70% more actual screen area than a 3.5-inch screen. Primarily this translates into a better view of the area through which you are driving. "Better than I thought" 2009-12-18

This little gadget rather surprised me. Though it did not include much in the way of instructions to get started it wasn't too hard to get going. I did download a manual also not great but okay, I guess. I plugged this into my van's lighter socket turned it on and it found the satellites in about 5 seconds while inside my garage. I haven't made any long treks yet but it knows where I am and shows a nice map complete with street and road names even country roads around here. The voice it has is clear and readable even for my 79 year old ears. All in all it seems perform as advertised and to me is an interesting and useful gadget. I must confess to being geeky since long before geeks were identified as a species.

Garmin Nuvi 255W. I got a good price for this through Amazon, under $150. The instuctions were a bit short, but I was able to connect to my PC, load the new firmware and install latest map, which was free of charge for this first upgrade. It did not come with a USB cable, but I did have one. So far I am very happy with it. It's simple to use and has alot of features of a higher-priced unit. Comes with a power cable for the car which also recharges the battery. It will also recharge when conected to your PC via USB.
If I had one wish it would be that when it lets you know by voice that your turn is coming up it would also give a noise like a ping or something like some others I've used. All in all it is a good unit.

This is my second GPS device from Garmin. I had a Nuvi 205 and I really liked it but I wanted a bigger screen. I have used many different models of GPS units but the Nuvi 255W is the best on the market right now for the money! I have 6 friends that I convinced to buy the Nuvi 255W and they all love it. I would recommend buying a data cable and a home charger but you can get generic brands for those. Also make sure you update the unit software from the Garmin website on a regular basis. Use the "Webupdater" so that the unit is running at its peak.

I have had a Nuvi 255w for a couple of months and have never had a single issue so I though I would buy one for each of the other cars in the family so I bought two Nuvi 285W and have had nothing but trouble with them Amazon has replaced the units and they all have the same problem.

While you are driving the shutdown and restart.

I called Garmin and was told to do a factory reset and the download the updates. I have done this on all three that's right three Nuvi 285W and they all do the same thing shutdown and restart while you are driving.

I have now returned all of them to Amazon

"Not Worth the Money" 2009-12-16

We had an older non-bluetooth Garmin and loved it over all the other GPS systems that we tried. This one, however, is not at all worth the money. We returned one because the voice navigation would mess up and sounds garbbled. The bluetooth had a lot of background noise when compared to the Tom Tom and then the thing would shut down randomly in the middle of navigation. Got another one and had some of the same issues so returning for a refund and sticking with the Tom Tom which is a bit more expensive, but it WORKS whereas this one simply does not.

"The new base level Garmin for your needs" 2009-12-13

Earlier this year, my numerous trips around the Twin Cities and into Greater Minnesota convinced me that I needed additional help navigating the North Star State. So after doing some research, I obtained a base level Garmin and started using it immediately on expeditions all over the Cities and beyond. It became my indispensable companion.

This 285W reviewed here is my second Garmin unit.

The 285W is, really a base level Garmin unit similar to my first. Single point routing, text to speech turn by turn directions, accurate and detailed maps of the US and Canada, and classic Garmin reliability in getting you where you need to go. A nice widescreen (which is really the way to go with these devices, IMO). In those respects, the unit is exactly the same as my first unit, and provides a base level experience for any user. On those features alone, I would recommend this unit to anyone wanting to take the plunge into the world of having a navigation device.

The 285W does have two additional features that put it at the high end of the base level Garmin units:

Bluetooth:
The 285w is bluetooth enabled and allows for pairing with and taking on the features of a bluetooth compatible phone. While I don't like answering and using cell phones in a moving vehicle as a general rule, the bluetooth pairing worked perfectly for me. And I do admit that using the garmin to make and receive calls is a lot safer than fumbling with a handheld phone.

MSN Direct Traffic:

The traffic feature is somewhat more problematic, although this is not really Garmin's fault per se. The traffic feature on this model uses MSN Direct, and comes with a 3 month trial subscription. The subscription is fine, and I suspect that would be even more useful for those who live in more densely packed areas with larger coverage than the Twin Cities, Minnesota.

The problem is not that after 3 months you have to pay for the service (its MSN's service, not Garmin's). The problem is that MSN's service is going away at the end of 2011. Purchasing this unit and purchasing a subscription you can certainly do, but the MSN service will only last until then, and then the device will essentially be without the traffic feature, unless you purchase an additional device from Garmin that gives you access to the NAVTEQ traffic system (this is a one time purchase that replaces your charger with a receiver/charger and as of December 2009 has a list price of $120). Again, the fact that MSN's service is going away is not Garmin's fault, but its something to consider before obtaining this device. If you just want to use it for the base Garmin features and the Bluetooth, you're golden. Buy this and be happy. If you are looking for a solution that includes traffic updates reliably, I would recommend one of the Garmin units that comes with traffic such as the 760 and 770 models.

Aside from the traffic issue, I have absolutely no complaints about the product. Garmin devices such as this one simply make my driving and travel better, which is something valuable in this day and age. Period and end of the story.

This is my second Garmin, and I daresay it will not be my last.

"Great GPS with great options" 2009-12-18

I started with the Garmin 205. Had it a few days when I decided I wanted a handheld gps so I sold the 205 to a coworker. Missed the car gps so I ordered a 765T hoping not to need an upgrade for many years. I'm more than happy with the 765T. The screen is great although a little too sensative when entering data. It seems to grab near by keys often. The only other complaint is that it is not very compatible with a MAC. I had to ask someone at work to bring their laptop to work so I could register and download all vehicles and voices available for the maps to my gps. I love that it has 3_D view, bluetooth, FM transmitter, Locate and Traffic. Garmin has a great reputation and I can see why. This a a great, reliable product.

"Valuable Upgrade to My Older Nuvi 360" 2009-12-17

Three years ago, I purchased my first GPS, a Nuvi 360. It immediately changed the way I drive -- no more trying to read printed maps, search for street signs, and drive all at the same time. I was quite happy with my Nuvi 360, and didn't see any reason to buy a newer model, except that my parents lost their 360, so I gave them mine and needed to buy a replacement for my own car.

Having used the 765t for a few weeks now, I'm really glad I was forced to upgrade. I didn't realize how much better GPS devices had gotten over the past few years. Not all the changes are positive, but the overwhelming majority are. Here's my take on what I like (and don't like) about the 765t compared to my old 360 and also compared to the Navigon we use in another car.

Positives

+ The 765t locks onto the satellites dramatically faster than the older 360. In general, I get a strong satellite signal within 10-15 seconds of starting the car. Only once or twice have I had any significant delay in getting a satellite fix.

+ The screen repaint is much faster and much smoother than in units from just a few years ago. I didn't think this would be a big deal, but it really does make a difference when you only have a split second to glance at the screen when making a turn in traffic.

+ I love the wide screen. I always thought wide screens were a waste, since they show more of the map to the sides, rather than ahead, which is where greater visibility would seem to be most valuable. In fact, I love the wide screen, because it provides room to spell out complete cross street names on both sides of the street I'm on. Also, the wide screen means that the unit can keep more valuable information on screen all the time, rather than having to take some items (such as speed or speed limit) off the screen in different modes to make room for other stuff.

+ The Garmin Nuvi series continues to have the best, simplest interface on the market. By contrast, the Navigon unit I bought on sale last Christmas is almost unusable while driving -- the interface is confusing and you need pinpoint precision to hit the right touch menus. Nuvi wins hands-down in terms of simplicity.

Negatives

- The touch screen on the 765 is not as well calibrated as on my old 360. I never used to have trouble hitting the right spots on the 360. To compound the problem, there is no simple menu option to recalibrate the touchscreen on the 765 -- you have to turn off the unit while holding down some button for a long time while pressing the screen ... or something like that.

- Based on the routes I travel, the Garmin navigation has actually gotten a little bit worse than in the older models. The 765 sometimes will tell me to exit the highway, only to drive along a parallel road for a mile then get back on the highway. Doesn't happen all that often, and it always gets me the right place, but it seems a bit quirkier than my older Nuvi.

- The Bluetooth speakerphone does not work nearly as well as in the old 360. The 765 speakerphone is very choppy. OK for short conversations, but frustrating for longer or important conversations.

There are two features that appear prominently in the marketing but that really aren't worth much, yet:

/ Lane assist is a great idea. In fact, it's the one thing that Navigon implemented incredibly well in their GPSs. With the 765, though, I've only seen the lane assist view pop up once in three weeks.

/ Traffic alerts are another great idea, in concept. In practice, the 765 routinely warns me of delays that don't exist. Until traffic reports become more reliable, this feature seems to be of limited value. I will say, though, that the 765 flagged a huge traffic jam on a major commuting road in my area one day, giving me time to detour. I guess one big alert over a three week period is enough to justify the minor false alarms.

On balance: Although the touchscreen calibration and Bluetooth speaker could be better, the unit overall performs extremely well, is incredibly easy to use, and is an incredible value at 200 dollars. If I'd known how much better Nuvis had gotten since my original model 360, I would have upgraded sooner.

"UNIT ALREADY REGISTERED" 2009-12-17

After doing a lot of research, I decided to purchase this model. Then after checking prices, AMAZON had the lowest price, so I purchased from AMAZON. Big mistake! As soon as I received this unit from AMAZON, I went to the Garmin website to register it. However, I couldn't complete the registration because the unit was already registered. This tells me that AMAZON sold me a used unit as being new. The unit suddenly stopped working after four months of occasional use.

I'm not upset with Garmin but I am upset with AMAZON and their tactics. I will never make another purchase from AMAZON.

This was my 4th Garmin purchase but my first disapointing one. I received the unit, charged the battery, registered it, and installed the software updates as well as the most recent map update. Disconnected the unit from the computer when prompted and...nothing. The unit failed to operate. Nothing but the black screen of death. It is on it's way back to Amazon for a refund.

"A GODSEND IN SOME WAYS, WACKY IN OTHERS" 2009-12-18

I notice the Amazon discussion forums on this product are jammed with users concerned about whether their Garmin is really the 265WT or just a 265W. I got mine and started thinking the same thing--that it did not have the traffic feature because it was directing me INTO traffic jams. I still have not seen any of the ads that are supposed to appear, and only yesterday did I hear the voice belatedly mention a traffic alert. The same day, it mentioned that it needed a traffic software update, so only after using it for a week did I realize that it was actually a WT.

I drove a taxi in Houston for a number of years, so I still know the best way to get around, and I find the Garmin is often totally bizarre in its route suggestions. I'd get accused of running up the meter if I were to use it for taxi routes. It is not as smart as Columbus, who knew that sometimes you have to go east first in order to go west. Sometimes you have to take the legs of a triangle, like I have to to go downtown, instead of the hypotenuse, which, although shorter, is nevertheless slower, uses more gas, and increases the probability of an accident. So Garmin needs to hire someone with a genuine intellect to modify its routing software.

Another bizarre thing is that it will often tell you to exit on the highway you are on instead of using the name of the exit. Instead of telling you to take the West Road exit, for example, it will tell you to take the Beltway 8 exit--but you're ON Beltway 8. There are times when, even when there are no ramps or exits, it will tell you to take the road that you are already on.

The user interface is non-intuitive, and takes a little getting used to. What's annoying is that there is no overwrite feature if you want to reset a favorite. I usually take mine out of the car and into stores with me, and if I forget to turn it on until the next destination, it will take a while to acquire the satellite data, which has resulted in me saving some favorites with the wrong location, and I've had to re-enter everything and save it a second time. It would be nice to be able to set a default city instead of having to re-enter it. It would really be nice to know whether it wants you to take a wacky route because of traffic or because the people who programmed it didn't do their jobs right.

It is a Godsend if you forget what the speed limit is, which can happen on long trips. Note that it does not update with school zone speed limits, so don't blame your Garmin if you speed through a school zone. It is also a Godsend when you can't see the street signs or if there are no street signs: you always know what the road coming up is. It is also a Godsend if you are looking for a particular street so you won't have to annoy the people behind you by slowing down at each crossroad to wonder "is that it?" You will probably see traffic jams faster than your Garmin, and you can exit anywhere with confidence that no matter which way you turn, the Garmin will tell you how to get through. It's certainly more convenient than pulling over and looking at a map.

I have a garmin 680 and find this item quite reliable i went to purchase another for a gift but found out that the 680 was discontinued so going to garmin's web site and comparing different models the best one i found to buy was the 265wt. the best price for all the options they offer,there are other gps's out there but i believe that garmin has them beat in all areas,i have recemended garmin to all my friends and if you have to purchase one i would go with the garmin all pluses and no cons

This thing frustrates me. When I first got it I used it to tell me how to get to a birthday party. It took me atleast 5 minutes out of my way. It was set on fastest route and the roads had been there for over 15 yrs, so it wasn't an outdated map issue. When going from MD to FL it kept trying to take us thru downtown DC instead of just keeping us on I-95. When out of town with family we decided to get lunch. Our Garmin could not find the McDonalds but my sister-in-laws $99 TomTom found it! By the time we got to lunch everyone was done. There aren't many great things I can say about my Garmin. The traffic alert will tell you there is traffic when there isn't any, or after you are already in it. It does try to take you around the traffic, but it will take you way out of the way to avoid it. You can turn off that setting. I like that it speaks to you and the screen is large. Bottom line, a TomTom is probably just as good, if not better than a Garmin. Don't get caught up in all the hype and extra features. You will just be dissappointed.

It seems all expert reviews rated this model really high. Comparing the other GPS I have (Mio C520)in our household, I am quite disappointed with the Garmin 265WT. The interface seems very cartoonish; it feels like more for kids than for grown-ups. The driving data cannot be shown on the same screen with the map is quite inconvenient. Who would need the entire screen for the map? The map is not very accurate either. In one week's use, I encountered two problems. When I drove on Newark's Broad Street, there is a ramp going up to I-280 East which I have used for the last 20 years. Garmin GPS simply doesn't have that ramp in their map. After I got on the I-280, the GPS got completely confused my location. Yesterday I was in Holmdel, NJ, the GPS told me to turn left on the divided Highway 35. This kind of error is really unforgivable for how many years this brand is in the market.

My husband, though a wonderful man in so many ways, is the least technically-adept person I know! So when looking for a GPS, I wanted something that was basic and easy to use. After much research, I chose this Garmin, and have been very pleased. It is reliable, the screen is big, the option buttons are large, and the voice options are fun! The only downside is that the advertising failed to mention that it came with a charger and holder. As this was our first GPS, I was unsure that the accessories would be included, so I purchased a holder and cord, which I now have to return.

I got this GPS two days after I ordered it. It is with North America maps preloaded. I loaded Turkey map while using in Turkey. Installing is very fast. The map for Turkey is 200906 and although there are minor mistakes, all was good while driving inside Istanbul and Ankara. Like any other Garmin product, it is very easy to use it. Compared to IGo, none all the information is displayed on the main screen. You may switch from main to details scrren with a touch of finger and back to main as well. I think Garmin thinks to be as clear as possible so that it is more easy to follow the screen. On the other hand, I prefer all the stats will be dispaled while on the main screen (map screen). Although it is not a mistake, I wanted that feature to be selectable. In overall, it is a though, light, quick and accurate product with a good battery life (~5 hours). Also, almost hundreds of maps to be selectable (purchase separately) worldwide from internet. I think the maps are not cheap (~100$) but there are maps for every country in the world! I recommend it thsi one or new series (since it is discontinued now).
